What is TRC-20?

TRC-20 is the token standard of Tron: the EVM-style interface (Tron's virtual machine is a sibling) applied to a chain chosen for cheap, fast transfers. Its claim to fame is USDT-on-Tron, for years the busiest dollar rail on any blockchain.

For payments the pitch is cost: transfers settle in seconds for fees measured in cents, which is why dollar flows that used to ride correspondent banks ride TRC-20 instead.

TRC-20 on U.CASH

Tron is a first-class network on U.CASH: TRC-20 tokens settle to checkouts and swaps non-custodially, with Tether-on-Tron one of the deepest pairs on the network.

TRC-20: FAQ

Is TRC-20 the same as ERC-20?
Same idea, different chain: the interface is compatible, the networks are not. A TRC-20 token lives on Tron and moves by Tron transactions; the asset pages keep the two straight by contract.
Why is USDT so big on Tron?
Cost and speed at dollar scale: cents and seconds, 24/7, to any wallet. Where the rail is cheaper than the correspondent bank, the traffic moves.
